Grace Upon Grace

“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” John 1:16

It is amazing, how much grace God pours out on us. It is who God is, as shown by Jesus Christ when He came to earth, put on human flesh, and gave His life for us so that we could know and receive life through belief in His name.

Today I was struggling with sin in my heart, and praying that the Lord would help me and even forgive me for some thoughts that I thought and some disobedience that I showed Him. I do not want to go back to who I was before, I want to walk in the freedom He has given me here.

Feeling like I could not go on and asking God for strength, wondering if it would come I persevered and went about my day. My biggest fear is failing Him and failing others who have sent me here, because I know what wickedness I am capable of. Now though, my heart is full of the presence and power of God. This is grace upon grace. Not only has God given me eternal life and friendship, He helps me daily to walk with Him.

There is so much that God does for His children, it is amazing. All of it is possible through Jesus, the Son, of course. Yesterday I received an extremely encouraging email through Facebook, I realized what grace God had given me to have such amazing and deep friendships. This is what God does. He gives us an amazing friendship with Himself, out of His grace, then out of His fullness and abundance He gives us even more grace, the grace of great and deep relationships with other children of God, relationships so deep and amazing that wordly relationships pale in comparison. If that is all that God gave us it would be enough, even just the part about having such deep relationships with our fellow mankind. Yet, He pours out more grace and gives us such things as His Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit, He gave us His Word to know His will and to know Him better, and the list goes on and on.

I am thankful for God’s grace, which He pours on me continually out of His fullness. This is what God had planned for us all along, and how good are His plans and how good are His ways. Let those who know and trust the Lord be glad and rejoice in Him, for the way of righteousness is the way of fullness of joy.
