“If I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O LORD, will hold me up. In the multitudes of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.” Psalm 94:18-19
My foot slips, and the Lord catches me in His mercy. My heart sinks, and the Lord lifts it up. What amazing truth is found in this verse!!
What holds you up when you slip? Everyone in their Christian walk will slip up eventually, but how can we continue on? The same as always; confessing our sins and trusting in the mercy and grace of God. This will hold us up. The great thing about this concept is that it is true; I have seen it over and over again in my life. Every time my foot has slipped the Lord has caught me in His mercy.
Sometimes not only are we struggling in our Christian walks and our feet are slipping, but at the same time we are dealing with a multitude of anxieties. The pressure within from our own flesh combined with the multitude of anxieties we are surrounded with can make for a daunting trial were it not for the comfort of God.
What delights your soul? I can tell you the only thing that will truly delight your soul is to know the mercy and comfort of God, there is nothing like it.
So what’s the moral of the story? If your foot is slipping call out for the Lord’s mercy and He will hold you up. Likewise, if you have a multitude of anxieties within seek the Lord for His comfort, then your soul will finally know the delight it so greatly craves.
God be with you
