Psalm 82:3-4 NKJV
Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked.
There is something inside of me that has aways admired the chivalry of a knight during the middle-ages. There is something about this verse that is especially knightly and chivalrous, something that inspires courage deep in my heart and calls me to action.
Where are the knights of our day? Where are the men who will stand up and be men? Why does no one have the courage anymore to stand up for the poor and needy against the wicked, the wicked who would devour them just to satisfy their bloating stomachs.
It’s just business they say, nothing personal.
There is no more justice anymore, there are only oppressors oppressing the oppressed. Shame on you, shame on any of you who would take advantage of the needy for your greediness. There is no fear of God anymore, all have gone astray. May your wealth perish like your mercy has.
Who will join me? Who will come against the oppressors and say enough- you have enough. Who will rebuke the wicked for the sake of the fatherless and poor?
Or will I stand alone.
