Possibly Impossible

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40: 28-29

Didn’t you know? Or did no one ever tell you? God does not grow weary or become faint, even if we do. The word for everlasting here is known in Hebrew as the Vanishing Point (see Strong’s definition). There is a point in your mind when you think of time that you can no longer comprehend how far into the future or into the past someone is talking about– this is known as the vanishing point. Try to think about what 5 years of time is like, then think of 10 years, now try to imagine 1,000 years. All those are conceivable. Now try to imagine an eternity of time into the future and an eternity into the past. You cannot, the concept vanishes from your mind. It is incomprehensible. This is who God reminds us that He is. The everlasting God, the Lord of all, the very creator of the ends of the earth. He has an understanding, a wisdom that is unsearchable, unattainable. And yet, He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of those who have none. This is the type of God that He is. If you did not know, or no one ever told you, then you must know!!! You must hear!!! He can help you!!!!

Do you feel weak? I know that I do all the time. I have told God many times that there is no way I can ever become like Him, that it is impossible. I have told Him I could never be free from a certain besetting sin. Then He reminds me of who He is, the everlasting God and then promises me strength. On one occasion Jesus said “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26b). You may think it is impossible to change, to be free from your sin, or that it is impossible to walk a righteous and holy life set apart for God. And in just the strength and power of our human capacity it is, but with God it is possible. Not only is it possible, it is promised. So if you are feeling weak and without might, look to God for He is able and waiting to give you power and to increase your strength. May God bless you and encourage you now as you endeavor to follow Him and His ways. May you be strengthened in His might and uplifted by His power in the name of His Son, Jesus!!!
