Through the Night

“Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction.” –Ps. 119:92

The true love and delight in the law of God is revealed through affliction. It is when we have been tested by the refining fires that we can say with confidence, “Oh, how I love Your law!”. It is through those times of suffering where we discover the comfort of God’s Word and the truthfulness that its promises contain.

When God’s Word is our delight, then come what affliction might, we will not perish. We will emerge victorious with a deeper and richer walk with the One who is our savior, but has now become our closest friend. Were it not for the light of the Word of God we would have lost our way, but God was faithful. Through His Word He led us through the night, and will continue to lead us into the path of the just –which shines ever brighter unto the perfect day (Prov. 4:18-19).

“Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day! You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies… I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation.” Ps. 119:97, 98a, 99
